FIRST: CANDY FESTIVAL LAUNCHES SPECIAL FRIKANDEL SHOT

For 69 years, the frikandel speciaal has been an indispensable part of Dutch (deep-fried) cuisine. The most famous is undoubtedly the frikandel speciaal, smothered in mayonnaise, curry or ketchup, and onions. Soon, the frikandel speciaal will also be available as a shot for every daredevil who loves the snack. The distillery Onrust Stokers and Candyfestival.nl came up with the playful idea to develop a shot with the flavor of frikandel speciaal. The shot contains no alcohol. The drink can be reserved starting now at www.candyfestival.nl.
The frikandel was launched in Dordrecht in 1954 and has been the most popular snack in the Netherlands for years. Moreover, it is the only snack with its own holiday on February 4th. Candyfestival.nl, a webshop specializing in extreme candy, approached the Onrust Stokers for the development of the playful shot. “We currently import extreme taste sensations mostly from Japan and America; why not make something homegrown?”
The playful idea for developing a shot immediately appealed to Onrust Stokers owner Stefan: "We've been approached for collaborations several times in recent years, but it never really suited our business operations, but I thought a frikandel special shot would be a really fun challenge. Especially because it had to be a non-alcoholic drink, the challenge was significant. Normally, we capture flavors in the alcohol during distillation; for this drink, we used a completely different method, but I can't say too much about that," says Stefan Hees, co-owner and frikandel enthusiast of Onrust Stokers.
